The 2nd CIPS NZ Public Sector Procurement Forum
23rd November 2011
The Amora Hotel
Wellington
The New Zealand Government Procurement Reform Programme has moved forward quickly, with an increased focus and level of investment in the profession throughout the public sector in New Zealand. Not only have the rewards and benefits come quickly, they have been sustained and are building a new level of capability in New Zealand public sector procurement.
The 2nd CIPS New Zealand Public Sector Procurement Forum has been developed by CIPSA Conferences in close conjunction with the Procurement Reform Group to provide public sector procurement professionals in NZ specifically, with an eclectic mix of content designed to provide both strategic direction and real, practical learnings.
This years forum includes, for the first time, streamed sessions focussing on strategic and tactical procurement, providing delegates with greater choice in terms of where their educational priorities lie. Whether these be in setting the strategic direction for their organisation, developing their soft skills, or simply learning from others new and better ways of getting the job done, this programme should have something for everyone.
I commend the programme to you and very much look forward to seeing you in Wellington,
Jonathan Dutton FCIPS
Managing Director
CIPS Australia and New Zealand.
Welcome from the Ministry of Economic Development
We’re pleased and excited to support this flagship professional event for public sector procurers – one which supports all our efforts to build awareness of the procurement profession and supports public sector procurement development, through an eclectic mix of strategic and practical sessions. For a long time I’ve heard procurers say they want flagship events that promote our profession; following the success of the first Wellington conference - here it is!
The Government Procurement Reform Programme - now two years into its four year programme - is raising the profile and expectations of the profession: the programme of All-of-Government contracts is picking up pace, initiatives to simplify procurement practices are rolling out and the professional development is getting a ‘shot in the arm’. The time has never been better for procurement professionals to position themselves as critical leaders within the public sector… this is one of those key opportunities to help and inspire you to get there!
Whether you’re already a Chief Procurement Officer or a practitioner aspiring to be one – this event has something for all procurement professionals. And if you’re a supplier to government, this is an ideal opportunity to learn about how we think, the key issues we face, and what we’re working on.
